Motorcyclist killed in Ontario County crash identified

A 36-year-old man from Rushville was killed in a motorcycle crash in Gorham, Ontario County, early Friday, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies found Daniel Blauvelt dead in the area of State Route 245 and County Road 18, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

An initial investigation suggests Blauvelt was traveling south on County Road 18 and had passed through the State Route 245 intersection when he hit a small embankment on the route’s south side and fell from his bike. It did not appear that any other vehicles were involved.

The area around the crash was closed for three hours. The investigation into the cause continues.
