Hood River rescue teams tackle 8 missions in 12 days as Oregonians head outdoors
An intense 12-day period from July 4 to July 15 saw Hood River County-based emergency response teams engaged in eight search and rescue missions. The Crag Rats, a volunteer-based mountain rescue team, alongside Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue, are responding to warm weather drawing more people to rivers and trails. With 25 rescues in 2024 so far, the Crag Rats are already nearing their yearly average of 30 rescues.
