St. Joseph wins big in the state budget
St. Joseph won big in the state budget, even aside from the nearly $10 million allocated to make improvements to Rosecrans Memorial Airport. State Rep. Brenda Shields of St. Joseph, who serves on the House Budget Committee, says Gov. Mike Parson let stand a half million-dollar appropriation for the downtown Children’s Discovery Center after vetoing a $1 million appropriation for it last year.
Heads up St. Joseph commuters, big part of I-29 closes Tuesday
Renovations on the Cook Road bridge in St. Joseph will cause a large portion I-29 within the city limits to shutdown much of tomorrow. Missouri Department of Transportation district engineer Marty Liles says to keep work on track the contractor will close I-29 to transport bridge pilings to the site.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The City of St. Joseph and surrounding areas are gearing up for Independence Day on Thursday, July 4, 2024. The City of St. Joseph announced on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, that in observance of Independence Day on Thursday all city offices, REC Center, Landfill, Recycling Center and Krug Pool will be closed while the Aquatic Park will have limited hours of 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the Remington Nature Center will be open for their regular hours.

Potential indoor/outdoor Youth and Community Sports facility development project
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) St. Joseph City Council held a work session Tuesday afternoon to talk more about The Youth and Community Sports Facility development project. This is a follow up discussion from last year regarding the potential development of the indoor/outdoor Youth Sports Facility. Todays discussion was primarily to discuss the splitting of the indoor and outdoor portions of the facility across two different properties. The indoor portion would patiently go in at the old Sear building in the East Hills Mall. The outdoor portion would potentially go on Missouri Western campus.
