Wearing a maroon beret and sunglasses, Sapper likes to hang his head out the window of his best friend’s ride as it cruises around Fort Liberty and Fayetteville. At times, Sapper’s been stopped by military police, but he’s also shaken hands with Lt. Gen. Christopher Donahue, commander of the 18th Airborne Corps, and often has his photo shared on military social media accounts.

FORT LIBERTY, NC – A dynamic shift in the way the Army operates, from counterinsurgency to large-scale combat operations, has been occurring for almost a decade. Soldiers need to remain lethal, and medics need to keep warfighters on the objective. Prolonged field care initiatives will help keep patients alive for longer periods of time, in the absence of evacuation options. What about patient security, and the security of the unit? Security assets may not always be available, and M4 carbines and M9 pistols may not provide the firepower needed to ensure the protection of the patients.
Medians and Roundabouts: Hillsborough Reviews Proposed S. Churton Street Redesign
The Town of Hillsborough recently reviewed and unanimously endorsed a proposed redesign for South Churton Street that could create a safe, attractive entryway into town. The street is Hillsborough’s primary north-south corridor, acting as a gateway into town and connecting its neighborhoods to the commercial district. The three-mile road stretches from Interstate 40 to the Eno River, and more than 22,000 vehicles travel it daily. The state-funded redesign seeks to widen South Churton Street in order to relieve traffic congestion and provide north-south pedestrian and bicycle connectivity.

Coastal Credit Union Foundation and Habitat for Humanity Unveil Latest Home in Chapel Hill
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (July 1, 2024) – On June 29, the Coastal Credit Union Foundation and Habitat for Humanity of Orange County celebrated the nonprofit’s newest homebuyers in the Gattis Court community in Chapel Hill. Officials from the Town of Chapel Hill joined representatives from the foundation, Coastal Credit Union, Compass Center and Habitat for Humanity for the ceremony. The Gattis Court home and another in Durham were funded by $200,000 in grants from the foundation.
