A native Texan's work is currently being featured at Graham's local art center.

Linda Leonhart-McCall’s artwork will be on display at the Old Post Office Museum and Art Center (OPOMAC) until Saturday, Aug. 24.

“We exhibit artwork to not only provide a space for local artists to have a brick-and-mortar show but also as a way to bring different perspectives, cultures and talent to Graham, Texas,” OPOMAC Executive Director Lynsey Browning said.

McCall is an artist in Fort Worth who serves as a frequent lecturer, presenter and juror in North Texas.

She worked for 12 years as Visual Art Department Chair at Ursuline Academy of Dallas She also served on Ursuline’s Global Education Taskforce, which afforded her opportunities to travel across the world.

While McCall has a passion for global involvement, she said her recent work is oriented toward portraying the world around her.

“Many, I believe, are seeking solace, answers and hope for our world,” McCall wrote. “It is easy to miss the positive that is right under our noses when there is beauty, answers and amazement right in front of us.”

McCall’s exhibition at the OPOMAC is titled Interconnections. The series of paintings is intended to showcase the commonality within people’s differences, as well as the passing of time and hope for the future.

Browning said she met McCall at the 2023 Lake Country Art Show hosted by the Graham Art Guild, where the artist was serving as a juror. Browning visited with her during the event and looked into her work.

“She has a wonderful talent, and I knew she would be a joy to work with, so we collaborated to put this current show Interconnections together,” Browning said. “It is an exhibition that can be appreciated and enjoyed by everyone.”

An artist reception will be held Saturday, July 13 at the OPOMAC.

Browning said this will be a great opportunity for people to celebrate and interact with McCall, as well as purchase her artwork.

“Art should be able to be viewed by everyone, and we don’t want to distance or come in the way of any of our community members being able to view beautiful and inspirational artwork,” Browning said.
