CNY standout stakes her claim as one of the best under-18 girls bowlers in the country
Syracuse, N.Y. — There is no rest for Eliana Occhino this summer. She’s too busy proving herself as perhaps the best teenage girls bowler in the country. Occhino, who will be a senior at Christian Brothers Academy, is just coming off a very productive two weeks of competition in Detroit. The takeways were a place on the U.S. junior team and the top spot in a national tournament.
Firefighters quell large blaze at Ben Weitsman scrap yard
GEDDES, N.Y. — An outdoor fire broke out at the Ben Weitsman of Syracuse scrap facility in Geddes Tuesday morning. At 5:58 a.m., the Solvay Fire Department responded to 333 Bridge Street and arrived at a large outdoor fire according to the department's Facebook page. Additional resources from the Fairmount Fire Department and Lakeside Fire Department were also brought in to control the blaze.
