    Fall salmon run approaches West Michigan

    For those who fish in West Michigan, the dawn of September means only one thing: It’s time for the fall salmon run.

    As the temperature cools down and natural lake turnover sends water down from northern Lake Michigan, the water near the shore starts to get colder. The salmon follow the turnover, also called “lake flips,” and head down the southern half of Michigan’s coast along with bait fish.
