GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Fuller Avenue north of Michigan Street reopened Tuesday after weeks of construction.

But drivers should be prepared for additional construction there next week: The city of Grand Rapids noted that DTE Energy needs to finish up work at the intersection that it previously started. That will mean the closure of one northbound and one southbound lane of Fuller for a week.

The city’s project on Fuller Avenue north of Michigan Street was initially expected to last a week but extended to a month and a half. Fuller north of Michigan to I-196 closed June 7 for “emergency sanitary sewer repairs,” according to the city.

GR intersection closure to cause major traffic disruptions

The intersection of Fuller and Michigan was also closed for a time, detouring drivers to neighboring streets. Some decided to cut through the parking lots of corner businesses, catching traffic tickets through the month of July.

    The intersection reopened last Wednesday.
