Savor the summer. Gather inspiration from your surroundings. Travel is great, but, as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Sometimes the big picture is not as inspiring as a smaller detail. For example, one person might see a messy yard, but an artist can focus on the rusty watering can, tipped over a moss-covered log with turkey tail fungus and baby ferns growing on it.
Party in the Park organizers gear up for 2024 festival
Party in the Park is set to return to Painesville Square July 19-21. Described by organizers as “Ohio’s largest free outdoor music festival,” the three-day party will include live music acts, food and drink vendors, family activities and more. Event co-chair Pam Morse said that this year’s festival will also bring new vendors, new music acts and a tour of Lake Erie College’s new Tower student residences on the square.

Euclid inching towards construction of $10 million rec center
EUCLID, Ohio – Monday will mark the latest milestone in Euclid’s efforts to build its first community recreation center. The city will stop accepting bids for the construction of the proposed $10 million facility at 2 p.m. Monday. Members of the city’s Board of Control will open the bids two hours later at their monthly meeting.

Willoughby Hills adopts resolution to install sound barrier walls on Interstate 271
Willoughby Hills City Council recently adopted a resolution for the purpose of installing sound barrier walls along Interstate 271 to cut down on the noise for residents. Council Vice President Tanya Taylor Draper said residents of Pebblebrook Farm Condominium were communicating with the Ohio Department of Transportation in support of and endorsing this. Draper has further expressed her support for doing everything council could to aid the residents.
Madison Twp. trustees approve roads to chip-and-seal
MADISON TOWNSHIP — About four miles of roads in Madison Township are on the list for chip-seal work this year. Trustees held a special meeting on July 11 to approve advertisements for bids to chip and seal for seven stretches of road. The board will open bids on Aug. 5 and work is expected to be completed by the end of September.
