Man Speeds Away from Winery, Arrested for Intoxicated Driving, Firearm Possession
A 27-year-old Midland man was arrested in northern Michigan after allegedly driving 99 miles per hour while under the influence and in possession of a firearm. The incident occurred Sunday afternoon at a winery on the Old Mission Peninsula in Grand Traverse County. According to Michigan State Police, troopers were advised to look out for an intoxicated driver around 6:25, and he was discovered a short time later travelling southbound at excessive speeds. A traffic stop was conducted, and police reportedly discovered a loaded 9mm handgun.

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY — On Aug. 18 around 6:25 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police Traverse City Post were sent to investigate a possible intoxicated driver leaving a winery on Peninsula Drive in Grand Traverse County. Troopers located the suspect driver traveling 99 mph southbound on Peninsula Drive, they said. A traffic stop was conducted, and further investigation determined the 27-year-old driver - a man from Midland - was operating his vehicle while intoxicated and was in possession of a loaded 9mm pistol, troopers said. The driver was arrested and lodged at the Grand Traverse County Jail for operating while intoxicated and possession of a firearm while intoxicated, pending arraignment.
