Tourism in 2023 generated $601M, boosted jobs and tax revenue for Springfield
Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Springfield’s tourism surged in 2023 and delivered a positive economic punch, generating $601.3 million in local impact and driving a rise in visitor spending. Tourism also funneled $18.8 million into local tax revenue and directly supported 5,000 jobs in the tourism and hospitality sector, according to the latest data from the Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau and global research firm Tourism Economics, which tracked visitor numbers and their economic impact throughout 2023.
USDA ACCEPTING OFFERS FOR OVER 2.2 MILLION ACRES
(SPRINGFIELD) The USDA is still accepting offers for more than 2.2 million acres from farmers and private landowners through this year’s Grassland, General, and Continuous Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) signups, administered by the Farm Service Agency (FSA). With the enrollment process opened up back in January of this year, the current acreage enrolled is nearing the 27 million CRP acreage cap. Farmers can still make an offer through the Continuous CRP signup, which is ongoing, by contacting their local FSA Office.
