UPDATE: Swim advisory in effect for 8 beaches in St. Clair, Sanilac counties
A swimming advisory is in effect for eight beaches St. Clair County and Sanilac County, according to each county’s health department early Wednesday. Advisories against swimming were issued for Chrysler Beach in Marysville; Holland, Lakeside, and Lighthouse beaches in Port Huron; and Keewahdin and Fort Gratiot County Park beaches in Fort Gratiot, citing elevated levels of E. coli detected in water samples. ...

Port Huron prepares for a parade
Wednesday’s Rotary International Day Parade is the official kick off to this year’s Blue Water Fest. The parade will begin at Huron and Glenwood Avenue, continue south through the downtown business district, and turn east on Court Street to the disbanding area. Staging and check in will be on Pine Grove Avenue between Erie Street and Glenwood. In honor of the 100th running of the Bayview Yacht Club Port Huron to Mackinac sailboat race, this year’s parade theme is titled “All Hands On Deck – A Century of Sailing”.

NEW DATE SET FOR CHRISTINE MAYS BRIDGE RESURFACING PROJECT
PennDOT has announced the new timeline for a bridge resurfacing project in Grant Township. The project on Christine L. Mays Bridge will now take place this Friday, July 19th, through Sunday, July 21st. The work is weather dependent and will require the closure of the bridge for the time being.

BWAT offering free rides for Blue Water fest
It’s just become a little easier to get to and from family night and boat night thanks to Blue Water Area Transit. The local transportation agency is providing free rides to and from the festival footprint both Thursday and Friday from 4pm to midnight. There will be a shuttle service that will be running from Desmond Landing to the Blue Water Transit Center. Festival goers are encouraged to park for free at Desmond Landing and then take the bus to the transit center. Road resurfacing projects starting in 3 Southeast Michigan counties this week
(CBS DETROIT) - The Michigan Department of Transportation will begin road projects across five counties this week, including three in Southeast Michigan, officials said. These projects are part of the Rebuilding Michigan plan, a five-year, $3.5 billion investment to fix Michigan's highways and bridges, and the Building Michigan Together Plan. Croswell City Council paves the way for street construction updates, future Pioneer Days Exploratory Meetings
With summer in full swing, the Croswell City Council met this past Monday to provide citizens with construction updates and future Pioneer Days Exploratory Meetings. Despite running into some hurdles with asphalt top coating, council members reported that work on Wells Street is still going strong. A formal construction meeting will be held next week to discuss the official start date for Ward Street. It was also announced that the July 1 Pioneer Days Exploratory Meeting was a resounding success. There were plenty of people present and plenty of ideas thrown around.
