Cooler weather on tap with showers and storms
Starting the morning with temps in the 70s and 60s across the High Plains. Temps for this afternoon will rise into the 80s to low 90s. After a cold front moved through the region, expect a stretch of pleasant temps starting today. We broke a record yesterday in Amarillo with temps reaching 105, making it the sixth consecutive day of 100-degree weather. Showers continue to drift across SW parts of the Panhandle this morning as well as areas to the SE. There will be another round of moisture this evening across eastern New Mexico and western parts of the Texas Panhandle. A Flood Watch is already in effect for eastern New Mexico. Our severe threat for today is low but if we do see strong storms the main hazards will be damaging winds and minor flooding. Lake McClellan had the highest rainfall observed on Tuesday with 0.94″. We are still forecasting rainfall between 0.25″ to 1.25″ for the next seven days.
