The Oregon State University-led projects — Corvallis Microfluidics and the Pacific Northwest Mass Timber Tech Hub — were named among 31 finalists last year out of 400 applicants. Hateful acts directed at Oregonians because of their religion drove an increase in reported bias-related crimes and non-criminal incidents over the past year, according to a report released Monday, July 1, by the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission. MEDFORD MAN JAILED FOR ALLEGED DISORDERLY CONDUCT/MENACING
A Medford man was jailed following an alleged disorderly conduct and menacing incident early Thursday. A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 12:30 a.m., 38-year-old Bryson Kampstra, who was allegedly intoxicated, became upset by noise being made by other campers in Sparrow Park at the Oregon Dunes National Recreation area near Reedsport. Illegal Marijuana Task Force busts Shady Cove black-market cannabis grow
SHADY COVE, Ore. – Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET) detectives served a search warrant yesterday morning, Tuesday, July 2, at a black-market cannabis grow in the 20400 block of Sawyer Road in Shady Cove. The property was once the site of a school but has since been modified to grow black-market cannabis. IMET detectives seized 1,108 illegal marijuana plants, $1600 in cash, 3.5 grams of cocaine, and four firearms. There was no licensing for any type of cannabis growing, handling, or processing at this location.
Judge tosses Christian Non-Profit’s Lawsuit
MEDFORD, Ore.- A federal judge has dismissed a local Christian Non-Profit’s lawsuit against the State Department of Education after it was stripped of $400,000 in grants. As NBC5 news reported earlier this year, Youth 71-Five Ministries filed a lawsuit against the state after receiving grants from Oregon’s Youth Community Investment Grant program for years.
