Ostriches, Camels, & Zebras, oh my! | Penn National hosts unique racing event to draw interest into sport
EAST HANOVER, Pa. — A set of animals you don’t typically see racing around the track were at Penn National Race Course in Dauphin County on Friday. Penn National Race Course held its 9th annual Ostrich and Camel Race in East Hanover Township with a new addition of zebras, on this year’s race lineup.
CURVE STARTERS IMPRESSIVE AGAIN IN WIN AGAINST HARRISBURG
Make it three in a row for the Altoona Curve as they beat the Harrisburg Senators 4-3 in Altoona last night. It was another big night for the Curve’s pitching staff, as Po-Yu Chen went seven innings allowing two runs and notching eight strikeouts. Harrisburg started the scoring in the 1st on a throwing error, but in the 2nd, Kervin Pichardo’s line drive single on to score Sammy Siani. Harrisburg re-took the lead in the third on a bases-loaded walk, but in the Curve half of the 6th, Jase Bowen hit an RBI Double that scored Dustin Peterson, then Pichardo scored Jase Bowen on a single, and that was followed by a Jackson Glen hit and an error by Harrisburg centerfielder Andrew Pickney to make it 4-2. Harrisburg tried to comeback in the 8th, but only got one run back.

CURVE, PA. – Altoona pulled out an incredible back-and-forth victory over Harrisburg, 13-12, in ten innings to earn their fourth straight win over the Senators. They did so in front of 5,188 fans at Peoples Natural Gas Field on Saturday night to wrap up a series win over Harrisburg.

NEWTOWN, Pa. – The Middle Atlantic Conference (mac) announced the 2023-24 Winter Academic All-MAC Teams on Monday with Lebanon Valley College having a total of 12 student-athletes honored across eight sports. The Winter Academic All-MAC teams recognize the top student-athletes both in the classroom and in athletic competition during the 2024 spring semester. The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote for the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success.
