Biggest Question For Green Bay Packers Post 2024 NFL Draft

The Green Bay Packers shocked everyone with their performance during the 2023 season. They underwent some major changes, with the biggest one being Jordan Love taking over as the starting quarterback from Aaron Rodgers.

Going from a Hall of Famer to an unknown carries risk, but it is one the franchise has worked through before. In 2008, when Rodgers took over after sitting for three seasons like Love, he was replacing a legend in Brett Favre.

There were some bumps in the road along the way, which is expected. Not only was Love starting for the first time, but the group around him was inexperienced as well. The Green Bay Packers had the youngest roster in the NFL and patience needed to be exhibited.

By the end of the campaign, things were clicking nicely. The Packers finished the regular season 9-8, earning the final Wild Card spot in the NFC. During Super Wild Card Weekend, they destroyed the Dallas Cowboys, becoming the first No. 7 seed in NFL history to advance to the Divisional Round.

While losing to the San Francisco 49ers was certainly disappointing, the foundation has been laid for what the team hopes is a very bright future. With expectations on the rise, challenges will follow.

As we move into offseason workouts post the 2024 NFL Draft, what is the biggest question mark facing the Green Bay Packers? In the opinion of ESPN NFL report Rob Demovsky, it will be the team’s youth.

It sure looks that way even if all 11 draft picks don’t make the team, especially after the Packers shed veterans such as David Bakhtiari, De’Vondre Campbell and Aaron Jones. It’s always possible they could add a veteran or two between now and Week 1, but with the bulk of their player-acquisition phase completed, they now have one player in his 30s (Preston Smith, 31). “It’s a young man’s game,” Packers vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan said. “I certainly think you want to avoid getting old.”

There are certainly some benefits to having a young roster, but also some negatives. When things get difficult late in games or in the playoffs, a veteran-laden team could certainly have an edge over a youthful one as they have been there before.

Some more growing pains could be in store for the Green Bay Packers during the 2024 season. But, they should be able to overcome them with the continuity that is being built, as the team has plugged holes on the roster with nice additions and several key players are returning for another season.
