The Green Bay Packers look like they will be the youngest teams in the NFL for the second straight season. That means they will be leaning on some of their more seasoned players, such as wide receiver Christian Watson for prominent roles in 2024.

A second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of North Dakota State, Christian Watson has had some dominant stretches in his first two seasons in the NFL. He has the look and potential to be a No. 1 receiver in the league, but health has been an issue.

Every year as a professional, a hamstring injury has derailed Christian Watson at some point. They have consistently popped up at the worst times, seemingly always occurring right when his production is ticking up.

With him sidelined, other players have been allowed to shine. While a starting spot likely remains his, for now, his hold is tenuous at best. Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks, Jayden Reed and Malik Heath are all pushing for more snaps and have earned a longer look with their production.

That is a big reason why Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report has selected Christian Watson as one of the veterans in the NFL with something to prove in OTAs. This could be his last shot to prove to the Packers he should be viewed as a long-term piece of the puzzle.

“Watson will have to continue pleasing the Packers throughout OTAs because he’s now playing catch-up in Green Bay’s young receiver corps. If he falters, he could face an uphill battle for a starting job in training camp,” wrote Knox.

Early indications are that he is making a positive impression. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has reportedly been pleased with the progress of Christian Watson to this point.

Hopefully, that can continue during the offseason program, into training camp, the preseason and the regular season. Staying healthy is the No. 1 priority for Christian Watson in 2024. If he can do that, he will help take this offense to another level.
