As the Green Bay Packers move along in their offseason program, it doesn’t look like there are many glaring holes on the roster. Brian Gutekunst did a good job of addressing the major needs in the offseason, putting together a deep, talented group.

Potentially the youngest team in the NFL again, experience could be an issue at some spots. Depth is also a concern at a few positions, and the team could look to address that in the coming weeks.

The two positions mentioned most often as potentially needing some reinforcements are quarterback and cornerback. Jordan Love is the unquestioned starter, but how comfortable are the Packers with Sean Clifford and Michael Pratt as the only backups?

At cornerback, health has been an issue. Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes, the projected starting corners, have struggled to stay healthy. There isn’t much depth behind them, as a veteran addition would make a lot of sense.

Two options have been pitched as potential trade targets to address those needs. At quarterback, Trey Lance of the Dallas Cowboys was suggested as someone the Green Bay Packers could target behind Love.

“However, if the Packers make a decent offer for him, the Cowboys may be willing to trade him. Insiders have reported some improvement in Lance’s game in the offseason, and that could entice the Packers to make a move for him.

While Lance may not be good enough to become a legitimate QB1 in the NFL, he could become a decent backup. He is likely far better than either of the backups the Packers have on hand.”

The No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft hasn’t had much of a chance to prove himself yet. His tenure with the San Francisco 49ers was cut short because of the emergence of Brock Purdy.

At cornerback, veteran James Bradberry was mentioned as a trade target. Bradberry struggled mightily in 2023 with the Philadelphia Eagles but was excellent in 2022. He is a prime bounce-back candidate and would cost next to nothing to acquire for several reasons.

The Eagles would love to get out of his contract and the team made several additions at the position in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Green Bay Packers could probably get him for a late-round pick swap.
