Former GM Makes Bold Claim on Green Bay Packers Jordan Love

There is a lot of hype surrounding Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love heading into the 2024 season. Expectations are on the rise after a surprisingly strong performance in 2023 from the first-time starter and his team.
Replacing a player of Aaron Rodgers’ caliber is easier said than done. Jordan Love had a rocky start to his tenure as the team’s franchise quarterback, as Green Bay started 3-6. But, from that point on, something clicked and the team took off.
The Green Bay Packers went 6-2 the rest of the regular season, earning the final Wild Card spot in the NFC. They made the most of it, defeating the Dallas Cowboys during Super Wild Card Weekend in blowout fashion. In the Divisional Round, they gave the San Francisco 49ers everything they could handle in a competitive loss.
Heading into 2024, many people are expecting the Packers to take that next step. Potentially the youngest team in the NFL again, they aren’t short on experience this time around. If Jordan Love can live up to the expectations now being placed on him, Green Bay will be contenders in no time.
Recently, former NFL general manager turned insider Mike Tannenbaum made an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show. One of the topics discussed was an NFL draft of all the players currently in the league.
They were in agreement that Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs would go first. Tannenbaum dropped a bold pick for who would go No. 2, believing that it would be Jordan Love.
“If we were drafting #NFL players, I think you and I would agree that we’d take Patrick Mahomes no. 1, but I’m taking Jordan Love no. 2… Who would you take before Jordan Love in terms of youth, ability and I think his future limitless,” Tannenbaum said.
That is some incredible praise from the former front office member of the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets. Jordan Love going No. 2 in a league reset behind only multi-time MVP and Super Bowl winner Mahomes will shock some people.
But, the talent is undeniable. What he was able to do in 2023 in his first season as a starter with a supporting cast made up almost entirely of first and second-year players was impressive. The sky is the limit for this young Green Bay Packers team if they can take another collective step in their development.
