There is a lot to be excited about when it comes to the Green Bay Packers heading into the 2024 season. Potentially the youngest team in the NFL for a second year in a row, they are on the rise as a contender in the NFC.

A reason people are so excited about the outlook of the Green Bay Packers is the presence of quarterback Jordan Love. He showed a lot of fortitude in his first season as the starter, taking over for the legendary Aaron Rodgers.

However, Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report cautions that there are some things that need to be proven by the team. In his opinion, the biggest overreaction involving the Packers this offseason is that Love will continue taking off with the status quo.

“The Packers aren’t messing with what doesn’t appear to be broken, because Love was incredible down the stretch in his first year as a starter. However, that was only an eight-game sample size. He was not very impressive during the first half of last season, and the rest of the league will now be far more ready for him. To become a true contender, Green Bay probably needed to do more this offseason,” wrote Gagnon.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The Packers had a great thing going in the second half of the 2023 season, going 6-2 to end the regular season and earning the No. 7 seed in the NFC Playoffs.

They made the most of that opportunity, destroying the Dallas Cowboys during Super Wild Card Weekend. A competitive game against the San Francisco 49ers during the Divisional Round provided a lot of hope and optimism post-Rodgers.

Gagnon does have a good point that Love needs to still prove that he can do what he did over eight games over the course of a season. But, there is no evidence that he will fall flat on his face. When the Packers needed him most, he stepped up.

With a deep, talented group of skill-position players around him, the pieces are in place for this offensive unit to take off in 2024. The year of experience this team garnered in 2023 will do wonders heading into this season.
