Green Bay Packers Jayden Reed Speaks on Potential 2024 Goal

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed had quite an impressive rookie season in 2023. The second-round pick out of Michigan State led the team in receptions and yardage and tied for the team lead in receiving touchdowns.

The 64 catches he recorded are the most for a rookie in Green Bay Packers franchise history. His 793 yards paced the team, with second place being 674 from Romeo Doubs. Reed’s 10 combined offensive touchdowns, as he rushed for two in addition to the eight he caught, are the third most for a rookie in franchise history.

What could Jayden Reed have planned for an encore during his sophomore season? Finishing with 100+ receptions is certainly something that he has on his mind. But, in his opinion, it isn’t as big of a milestone as some people make it out to be as reception numbers like that boil down to play calling.

“I mean, I’ve never had a 100 catches in my whole career of football,” Reed said. “But definitely there’s a lot of ways to get me the ball. Running bubbles out of the backfield, in the slot, outside if you want it.

“But no doubt about it, I think if any coordinator wanted to, they could get a player the ball however many times they want. I think any receiver could have 100. That’s just my perspective.”

That versatility Jayden Reed brings to the Green Bay Packers is one of the reasons the team is so excited about his outlook. Last season he was used mostly in the slot, but he has the skill set to win regardless of where he is lined up in the formation.

It would behoove the coaching staff to move Reed around, taking advantage of the different skills that he has. While he may not have the size of Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs or Dontayvion Wicks, he is willing to mix it up and do whatever is needed to help the team win games.

Big things are expected from the former Spartan in Year 2 of his career. A second-year leap is certainly possible, as the entire offense should take steps forward with a year of experience under their belts.
