Packers Rashan Gary Shares Thoughts on Caleb Williams

The Green Bay Packers pass rushers, led by Rashan Gary, have a new quarterback to torment in the NFC North. The Chicago Bears used the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on USC star Caleb Williams to replace Justin Fields.

Chicago is hoping that Williams can help the team reach new heights that their previous top draft picks were unable to achieve. With a much-improved roster, the former Heisman trophy winner is stepping into a much better situation than most No. 1 overall picks.

It will be a few months into the regular season when the Packers face off against the Bears for the first time. November 17th at Soldier Field will be the first time Caleb Williams will be taking part in the rivalry.

It is a game that Rashan Gary and the Packers are looking forward to playing. In a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, the edge rusher revealed he believes the team will have a good grasp on how to contain Williams by that point in the season.

“In that time of the season, that’s 12 games in, so we’ll have some good tape on him. Understanding how the Bears want to run their offense through him, or if they’re going to be pass-heavy by that time or run-heavy by that time. So we’re going to understand and have a better feel (for Williams) than we would, you know, Week 1,” Gary said.

As Gary noted, the Packers are going to have a lot of film to review when they face off against Caleb Williams for the first time. But, if the Bears take a similar path to what the Packers did last season with Jordan Love in his first season, Week 11 will be right when he finds his stride.

This is a rivalry that has been one-sided for a very long time. The Packers have found a lot of success in recent seasons, as Rashan Gary has yet to lose a game he plays in to the Bears in his five seasons in the NFL.

Over that span, the Packers have gone 9-0. Rashan Gary has recorded 2.0 sacks with 20 tackles, five tackles for loss, three quarterback hits and two fumble recoveries. He will look to keep the winning streak going in Week 12 when the long-time rivals face off again.
