This Position is Green Bay Packers Biggest X-Factor in 2024

The Green Bay Packers were one of the biggest surprises in the NFL in 2023. They finished the regular season 6-2, earning a Wild Card spot and winning a postseason game. Heading into 2024, people will be intrigued to see if that was a fluke or a sustainable success.

Potentially the youngest roster in the NFL again, the Green Bay Packers will be looking to build upon their performance last season. With a year of experience under their belt, they should be even more dangerous in 2024.

What is going to help determine how good this team is? In the opinion of Seth Walder of ESPN, the biggest X-Factor for the Green Bay Packers in 2024 is their wide receivers.

“There have been moments and flashes of upside from Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks. Odds are, one of them will ascend into a WR1-caliber player, but we haven’t seen it yet and don’t know which one it will be. Assuming that happens for someone, QB Jordan Love and the Packers’ offense should stay hot into 2024,” Walder wrote.

The Green Bay Packers don’t currently have a prototypical No. 1 wide receiver, but it isn’t something they are worried about. They love the diversity of this group, as each of them excels in a different area.

If any of them is going to excel to be that No. 1, go-to receiver, the favorite would likely be Christian Watson. He has a rare blend of size and athleticism and is developing his game to dominate at every level.

The only thing that has held him back in his career has been hamstring injuries. But, work this offseason could have led to the root of the issue being pinpointed. If he can stay healthy, he has the tools to become the team’s No.1 receiver.

Regardless of whether an individual rises to the occasion or not, this is a deep and talented group. Even further down the depth chart, the team has gotten contributions from Malik Heath, Bo Melton and Samori Toure.

Jordan Love has plenty of weapons to work with who haven’t scratched the surface of their potential. There isn’t a single wide receiver on the roster with more than two years of NFL experience.
