    Five former Green Bay Gamblers selected in 2024 NHL Draft, headlined by second overall pick

    GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Five former Green Bay Gamblers are heading to the National Hockey League (NHL) after being selected in the 2024 NHL Draft .

    The Chicago Blackhawks drafted Artyom Levshunov with the second overall pick. Levshunov played one year for the Gamblers, in 2022-23, finishing sixth on the team with 42 points en route to a loss in the quarterfinals of the USHL playoffs.

    In his sole season with the Gamblers, Levshunov was named to the All-USHL Third Team and All-Rookie First Team. He also won two USHL Defenseman of the Week awards. His 13 goals in 2022-23 were the third-highest among USHL defensemen.

    Following Levshunov, Will Zellers was drafted in the third round after the Colorado Avalanche selected him with the 76th pick. The San Jose Sharks drafted Christian Kirsch with the 116th pick in the fourth round.

    Two former Gamblers closed out the final round, with Vasili Zelenov being selected 204th overall by the Buffalo Sabres and Will Samuelsson being selected 222nd by the Dallas Stars.
