One Green Bay Packers Player Primed to Bounce Back in 2024

Expectations are on the rise for the Green Bay Packers. After surprising everyone with their performance in 2023, they will be looking to build upon that positive momentum in 2024.

After making the postseason and winning a playoff game, some analysts believe the Green Bay Packers are on the path to contention. A lot of the focus of that ascension has been on the offense, led by Jordan Love.

Green Bay is young all over their roster, but the offense produced at a high level down the stretch. If things go right on that side of the ball, they can have one of the most explosive units in the NFL.

How high this team’s ceiling goes will be dependent on the defense. They underwhelmed at times in recent seasons under Joe Barry, who played a 3-4 read-and-react system.

In 2024, the Green Bay Packers are changing to a 4-3 base under Jeff Hafley. A more aggressive, attacking style of play should be expected from what players have shared from offseason workouts.

For this unit to reach its potential, they will need their veteran players to set the tone and lead the way. One of those players is cornerback Jaire Alexander. Battling injuries and some run-ins with the coaching staff in 2023, Bradley Locker of PFF believes that the star cornerback is poised to bounce back in 2024.

“Alexander talks a lot of smack, and he regularly backs it up. The issue in 2023 was that compound back and shoulder ailments limited Alexander to only 560 snaps, the fewest in a year of his career.

Alexander’s track record has been stellar, grading above 80.0 in 2022 and 2020 and not surrendering more than two touchdowns in any season since 2019. With a clean bill of health, the 27-year-old should instantly boost a revamped Packers defense looking to return to its fierce ways,” wrote Locker.

The cornerback position is one that analysts are worried about for the Green Bay Packers. Health is a concern, along with a lack of experience behind Alexander on the depth chart.

Alas, the team likes the group they have put together. If issues arise in training camp, they can look to bring in a veteran to help the group out. For now, they will be counting on Eric Stokes, Carrington Valentine, Corey Ballentine and Keisean Nixon to lock things down.
