Packers Jordan Love Lands Right Outside Top 10 of QB Rankings

The 2023 season was a big one for the Green Bay Packers. For the first time since 2007, they were starting the season with a quarterback who wasn’t Aaron Rodgers. It was the official beginning of the Jordan Love Era.

A first-round pick in 2020 out of Utah State, Jordan Love was stepping into the starting role and no one knew what to expect. Would the Packers offense click without the Hall of Famer leading the way?

Some major risks were taken as the Packers had the youngest roster in the NFL. Outside of running back Aaron Jones, every other skill position player was still on a rookie contract. Not a single wide receiver had more than one year of professional experience under their belt.

Despite that, Jordan Love proved that he can be a successful starter in this league. Not only that but in the second half of the season, he performed like a bonafide star.

That is a major reason why he came in just outside of the top 10 quarterback rankings put together by Trevor Sikkema of PFF. He ranked Jordan Love No. 11, who is on the cusp of stardom in the NFL.

“But even more impressive than the raw season numbers was the context of the second half of the year. From Week 8 on, Love earned an elite 90.4 passing grade with 27 big-time throws and just 10 turnover-worthy plays. His play was elite down the stretch and into the playoffs.

He struggled with accuracy and consistent ball placement in the first half of the season but was on fire in the second half. If how Love ended the year is closer to what we can expect of him moving forward, he will ascend this list very quickly,” wrote Sikkema.

In the final eight games of the regular season, Jordan Love completed 196-of-279 passes, good for an elite 70.3 completion percentage. He threw for 2,150 yards with 18 touchdowns and only one interception.

The only blemish over those games was five fumbles, three of which he lost. But, most importantly, the Packers went 6-2, earning the final Wild Card spot in the NFC.

They made the most of that opportunity, becoming the first No. 7 seed in NFL history to advance to the Divisional Round. After destroying the Dallas Cowboys 48-32, they gave the San Francisco 49ers everything they could handle in a 24-21 loss.

If Jordan Love picks up in 2024 right where he left off in 2023, the Packers are going to find a ton of success on the field. He will also find himself with a single digit next to his name in the rankings.
