Ex-Cowboys superstar is looking for next opportunity; Should Packers sign?

Free agency has completely slowed down across the National Football League.

Training camp is about to kick off and yet there are many high-impact free agents still out there looking for their next opportunities. One player who surprisingly still is out there is 2019 Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore.

Gilmore spent the 2023 season with the Dallas Cowboys and had two interceptions, 13 passes defended, and 68 total tackles while starting all 17 games.

The 33-year-old has been one of the best cornerbacks in football over the last 10 years and should find another opportunity soon. The Green Bay Packers should consider a move as fast as possible.

Green Bay has improved this offseason but some have said that it could still use another boost in the secondary. Gilmore immediately would provide that and the Packers have the cap space needed to afford him.

The Packers have high hopes for the 2024 season and at this point in the offseason likely could get Gilmore on a discount. Why not sign him in that case? The Packers would be getting someone with All-Pro upside on a cheaper-than-expected deal.

Green Bay should give him a call as fast as possible to see what it would cost to bring Gilmore to town. Gilmore was named a Pro Bowler as recently as 2021 and it wouldn't be too shocking to see him do so again in 2024 if he's healthy and can get another opportunity.
