Packers' Super Bowl XLV champion deals hot take on Rodgers, Jets' chances

James Jones has seen it happen first hand, and the NFL player-turned-analyst can picture it happening again.

During a roundtable discussion on FS1's Speak, the former Green Bay Packers ' wide receiver outlined what can be for the New York Jets and a healthy Aaron Rodgers in 2024.

Jones, who played alongside Rodgers for the Super Bowl XLV champion Packers, not only gave a ringing endorsement of his old quarterback, but he raved about the supporting cast that the Jets have put around their decorated field general.

"You better believe it. You better believe it. It's [winning the Super Bowl] realistic because of this roster. I think this is the best roster Aaron Rodgers has had since 2010, where we had a Top 10 defense," said Jones.

The 2010 Packers featured a Top 5 defense while the Jets have boasted a Top 4 unit each of last two seasons.

"He's going to have a Top 10 defense whether we like it or not," said Jones. "It's gonna be in the Top 10. It might even be in the Top 5. The last he had a Top 10 defense, Aaron Rodgers went on to win the Super Bowl. You have everything you need on the defensive side of the ball."

While the defense has excelled, New York's offense has been stuck in neutral two years in a row. Rodgers's presence should instantly upgrade what was the NFL's next-to-last passing offense in 2023. The Jets, who seemingly have adequate star power at the skill positions, overhauled the offensive line this offseason to enhance the protection around their 40-year-old quarterback .

"You have everything you need on the offensive of the ball. You get Mike Williams, you have a really good running back in Breece Hall, you upgraded the offensive line, we already know what Garrett Wilson is. This is going to be a really good football team in New York. They have an opportunity to go there and hoist that Lombardi trophy," said Jones.

Jones, who spent 8 of his 9 pro seasons with Rodgers in Green Bay, totaled 50 receptions for 679 yards and five touchdowns in 16 games for the 2010 Packers. In 15 regular season starts that year, Rodgers completed 65.7 percent of passes for 3,922 yards and 28 touchdowns. He was intercepted 11 times.

The Jets are coming off back-to-back 7-10 seasons and have not posted a winning record since 2015.
