The Green Bay Packers have an unusual backup plan for quarterback Jordan Love as he awaits a new contract.

Love was at practice with teammates on Monday but won't be taking the field until he has a new contract. Until that happens, the Packers are planning to dig deep to find a capable arm for training camp drills.

Reporter Tom Silverstein noted that the Packers plan to split reps between two recent draft picks, Sean Clifford and Michael Pratt, but could also call on a member of their coaching staff to fill in as needed.

"#Packers coach Matt LaFleur said QB reps will be mostly 50-50 between Clifford and Pratt," Silverstein wrote in a post on X . "He said offensive coach Sean Mannion may have to throw some balls in practice."

The 32-year-old Mannion appeared in 14 games over six NFL seasons, his last coming with the Minnesota Vikings in 2021. He completed 60.9 percent of his passes, throwing for 573 yards with 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions.

Love is holding out until he can get a new contract extension. The Packers quarterback is coming off a career-best season, throwing for 4,159 yards with 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He led the Packers to a wild card berth and a first-round upset of the No. 2 seeded Dallas Cowboys.
