The Green Bay Packers are a storied franchise in the NFL. While they haven’t had the same level of dominance and success during the Super Bowl era, they are still four-time Super Bowl Champions and one of the most followed teams in the league.

Over the years the Packers have had some great teams but the franchise is known to produce some of the finest quarterbacks the NFL has seen.

Established in 1919, the Packers have been around for more than 100 years with the 2024-25 season starting in September being their 105th.

With such a rich history to fall back upon, it will be interesting to discover the all-time 10 best players for Green Bay thus far.

    10. Willie Davis

Willie Davis was another member of the Vince Lombardi era which dominated the rest of the league.

Davis played on the defensive line and was a handful to deal with. Unfortunately for him, sacks were not recorded in the earlier Super Bowls otherwise he would have received official credit for being the first player with three sacks in a Super Bowl.

Davis is another player who won five NFL Championships, and two Super Bowls. He played for the Packers from 1960-1969 and was a five-time First-team All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowler. Just like most of the others, Davis is also a member of the Packers Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

    9. Herb Adderley

Herb Adderley played the cornerback position for the Green Bay Packers from 1961-1969. He was what is known as a true shutdown corner.

While he played for the Packers, Adderley had 39 interceptions of which he returned seven of them for touchdowns.

His resume includes five NFL Championships, three Super Bowls (two with Green Bay and one with Dallas), four First-team All-Pro, three Second-team All-Pro selections as well as a five-time Pro Bowl selection. Adderley is another player in the Packers Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

    8. Forrest Gregg

One of the finest right tackles to play in the NFL and especially for Green Bay is Forrest Gregg.

He was part of the dominant Vince Lombardi era where he won five NFL Championships along with three Super Bowls. After a successful playing career, he also ventured into coaching and took the Cincinnati Bengals to a Super Bowl in 1981.

Gregg was a seven-time First-team All-Pro, and nine-time Pro Bowler, and belongs to the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. the former right tackle is also a member of the NFL 75th Anniversary All-Time Team and the NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team.

    7. Don Hutson

Another legendary wide receiver who played for the Packers from 1935-1945 is Don Hutson. He was known for changing the position of the wide receiver and held a plethora of NFL records when he retired.

He has a long list of accolades but some of his most important ones include three-time NFL Champion, two-time MVP, eight-time First-team All-Pro, and four-time NFL All-Star. Hutson also led the NFL in receptions seven times and receiving yards eight times.

Hutson is a member of both the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

    6. Donald Driver

Donald Driver was one of the best wide receivers to play for the Green Bay Packers.

As a matter of fact, Driver holds the Packers records for the most receptions in franchise history with 735 and the most receiving yards with 10,060.

He spent all 14 years of his career in Green Bay and was part of the Super Bowl XLV winning team led by Aaron Rodgers. The four-time Pro Bowler was also inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame.

    5. Reggie White

Although Reggie White played more for the Eagles than he did for the Packers, White’s contributions to Green Bay’s football scene in the 90’s are hard to pass by.

Not only was he a critical leader on defense who guided the Packers to a Super Bowl in 1997, but he also won his second Defensive Player of the Year Award in 1998 at the age of 37 years which is still a record to this day.

The most amazing thing about White and his 6 seasons in Green Bay is that he was an All-Pro and Pro Bowler in every season he played for the Packers. White was a sack machine who ended his career with 198 sacks of which 68.5 of those came in the Packers uniform.

He is a member of the Packers Hall of Fame, Pro Football Hall of Fame, and College Football Hall of Fame. Furthermore, his jersey number 92 is retired by Green Bay.

    4. Ray Nitschke

A great defensive player who played in the Vince Lombardi era and who was probably the toughest defender on the team was Ray Nitschke. Playing the linebacker position, Nitschke was not only a great tackler but he was an equally good stopper of the run.

Nitschke played all 15 years in the NFL for the Packers and won five NFL Championships and two Super Bowls with them. He has two First-team All-Pro and five Second-team All-Pro nominations but somehow made only one Pro Bowl in 1964.

However, he is a part of the NFL 50th Anniversary All-Time Team, NFL 75th Anniversary All-Time Team, the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

    3. Bart Starr

Before Brett Favre the Packers had Bart Starr who is essentially known as one of the top quarterbacks to have ever played in the NFL. He was a much more efficient passer as compared to the other signal callers of the 60s era, and he led the Packers to five NFL Championships and two Super Bowls.

Starr earned the NFL MVP in 1966 and was a four-time Pro Bowler and four-time passer rating leader as well. He is also the winner of the first two Super Bowl MVPs. Although Starr’s accomplishments do not seem as impressive as Favre and Rodgers, these numbers reflect the type of game that was played in that era.

Starr is also a member of the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He also has his jersey number 15 retired by Green Bay.

    2. Brett Favre

Brett Favre is one of the best quarterbacks the NFL has ever seen but also one who underachieved despite his talent. With his arm talent and play-making skills, Favre should have won more than just one Super Bowl.

Nevertheless, his stats speak for themselves. Favre is a three-time MVP, an Offensive Player of the Year three-time First-team All-Pro, and three-time Second-team All-Pro.

Favre is the fourth-highest in the NFL in passing touchdowns and most passing yards of all time. For all the records and skill he brought to the game, Favre also gave away the most interceptions which was the most negative aspect of his play.

Irrespective of his drawbacks, Favre was still inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame. The Packers have also retired his jersey number four.

    1. Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers is the longest-serving quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. He played for the team for 18 seasons and has become one of the finest signal callers the game has seen.

Although Rodgers could win only one Super Bowl with the Packers, he has earned four MVP Awards and one Super Bowl MVP.

He is widely regarded as the cleanest passer of the ball and is heralded for his ability to not put the ball in harm’s way. He has over 59,000 passing yards, 475 passing touchdowns, and just 105 interceptions as of 2024. There is no doubt he will go into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame once he retires.
