There are a lot of players who people will be keeping an eye on at the Green Bay Packers training camp in 2024. There are a few prominent spots up for grabs in the starting lineup, which will make for some incredible competition.

On the defensive side of the ball, Jeff Hafley will have some decisions to make with his lineup. Where most of his evaluating will come from is the backend of his defense.

The Green Bay Packers have a stout defensive line rotation. They are loaded at defensive tackle and edge rushers, owning one of the most intimidating fronts in the NFL.

There are a lot of questions at the second level of their defense, where Quay Walker is the only player with a set-in-stone role. Hopes are high for rookie second-round pick Edgerrin Cooper, who has a chance to earn a starting role alongside Walker.

Another second-round pick that is garnering attention is safety Javon Bullard. The Georgia product has a chance to earn the starting spot alongside veteran free agent addition Xavier McKinney as the last line of defense.

With Green Bay Packers training camp beginning earlier this week, Anthony DiBona of Pro Football Network has highlighted Bullard as a potential wild card for the team.

“The Green Bay Packers underwent a makeover at safety this offseason after signing Xavier McKinney to a massive deal in free agency. The Packers also added multiple safeties in the 2024 NFL Draft, headlined by second-round pick Javon Bullard.

The 21-year-old was a force at Georgia and could take Green Bay’s defense to another level in 2024,” DiBona wrote.

The versatility that Bullard will bring to the field is something that has garnered a lot of attention. On paper, he seems like a perfect fit for Hafley’s defense alongside the just as versatile McKinney.

Both are excellent in pass coverage, which will help cover any issues the Green Bay Packers may have at cornerback. Willing to also mix it up in the run game, Hafley will have the luxury of mixing and matching his personnel based on what opponents are showing them.
