Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love.

Typically, when a player decides to skip training camp due to contract purposes, it's known as a "holdout."

Said player is sitting at home as a negotiation point as his representation works on getting him a new contract. It's part of the NFL, and it's one of the biggest bargaining chips players have at their disposal. It makes sense, too. After all, millions of dollars are on the line and the player risks getting hurt in a "meaningless" training camp and thus, losing all long-term guarantees.

If the typical NFL player does a "holdout," what Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is doing is a "hold-in."

He's awaiting a long-term deal with the Packers after proving that he's more than capable of being a franchise quarterback. Now, the Packers — who gave Love a one-year extension last summer to set up the "prove-it" 2023 season — need to pony up in order to both lock their QB up long-term and secure the future of the historic franchise.

The Packers say they're working hard to get a deal done, but Love won't be practicing in the meantime. Notably, he has been at practice, though, and he hasn't just been a fly on the hall.

In fact, here he is showing one of the backup quarterbacks how to properly execute a fake.

It doesn't make sense for Love to risk injury with a deal that could be worth over $50 million per year on the line, but it has to be good for the Packers brass to see their quarterback still being involved in the early preseason.
