The Green Bay Packers announced on Sunday a three-year contract extension with defensive tackle Kenny Clark . A few days later, the details of his deal emerged, according to contract analysis website Over the Cap .

As expected, the extension actually opens up some cap space for the Packers in 2024 — $1.125 million. It's $64 million in new money, so adding what Clark had left on his old deal, it becomes a four-year, $81 million contract in total.

    Year 1

The only guaranteed money on the contract is a $17.5 million signing bonus. In practicality, though, Kenny Clark will make $29 million in year 1, with a $10.05 million base salary, $750k in per game bonuses, and $700k in workout bonuses. The Packers still have a $10.49 million cap hit in 2024 based on previous prorations — Green Bay still has $5.49 million cap hits from 2025 to 2026 and $2.767 million in 2027 because of that.

    Future

The Packers included two roster bonuses for Clark, $7.5 million in 2025 and $11 million in 2026. He has to be on the roster by the 3rd day of each league year to earn that. He also has $1 million in per game bonuses and $700k in workout bonuses each year.

Green Bay decided not to add a void year in 2028, which would have lowered his cap hit in 2024.

Based on projected dead money and cap savings, Clark has at least two basically guaranteed years. In 2026, it's already possible to release him, with $17.007 million in dead money and $14.358 million in cap savings. In 2027, it's way more feasible to part ways with him if the Packers want to — $7.142 million in dead money and $20 million in cap savings.
