    Jordan Love contract details: Packers QB signs extension to become Green Bay's franchise play caller

    Jordan Love is ending his holdout and will be wearing green long term.

    The 25-year-old quarterback signed a long-term extension with the Green Bay Packers after a strong first season as a starter. He completed 64.2 percent of his passes for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns.

    Love also led the Packers to the playoffs, winning the Wild Card game before losing to the 49ers in the Divisional Round.

    The two sides agreed to a deal which ends Love's holdout from training camp . The quarterback told the team that he would not practice until a new deal was in place.

    Love signed a four-year, $220 million contract with the Packers on Friday night. HIs new deal comes with a $75 million signing bonus and $155 million in guaranteed money.

    The new deal kicks in during the 2025 season, when Love will make $55 million. His AAV for the extension is the highest among quarterbacks in the NFL.

    Love entered the 2024 season on a one-year extension since the organization declined his fifth year team option on his rookie contract. He could have hit unrestricted free agency after 2024 if the two sides didn't agree to a new deal.

    The Packers intend to keep Love long term, having him become their franchise quarterback, general manager Brian Gutekunst told reporters prior to the deal.

    The organization has had major success under center, employing Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre in every year since 1992.

    It's a new era for Green Bay as the franchise hopes to capture another Super Bowl with Love under center. It would be the first title since Rodgers raised the trophy in 2010.

    Love has only been the primary starter for one year in Green Bay after the team selected him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

    The former 26th overall pick played limited time as Rodgers' backup in 2021 and 2022.

    Love proved he's worthy of a long-term deal after his first year as a starter. He threw for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns, leading the team to its first playoff win since 2021.
