The Green Bay Packers are adding another piece to their cornerback room. On Tuesday, the team agreed to sign Don Callis, a rookie out of Troy, according to NFL Network's insider Tom Pelissero.

Callis is a 5'10, 174-lbs cornerback. He was the 145th-ranked player at his position in the class according to Dane Brugler's The Beast draft guide. He participated in the San Francisco 49ers' rookie minicamp on a tryout basis, which reinforces that he's probably a good fit for Jeff Hafley's defense . He also participated in Green Bay's own rookie minicamp.

Don Callis is from Los Angeles, California, and played at East Central Oklahoma before moving to Troy. Last season, he played 14 games, with 26 total tackles (including one for loss), a sack, four passes defended, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

    Sequence of moves

The Packers have made six roster moves on Tuesday. In addition to Callis, they have also signed fellow cornerback LJ Davis and brought back long snapper Peter Bowden , who had been cut last week. He will compete with veteran Matthew Orzech for a spot on the 53-man group.

To open up roster space for these moves, general manager Brian Gutekunst released kicker James Turner , fullback Henry Pearson, and cornerback Zyon Gilbert.

Now, the Packers cornerback room has ten players. Don Callis and LJ Davis will probably fight for a practice squad spot. The group also has Jaire Alexander, Eric Stokes, Keisean Nixon, Carrington Valentine, Corey Ballentine, Kalen King, Robert Rochell, Gemon Green.

    Other roster notes

    > Running back MarShawn Lloyd is making his training camp debut on Tuesday, according to head coach Matt LaFleur. For now, only individual stuff.

    > Safety Kitan Oladapo will also be activated to start practicing.
