The Green Bay Packers re-signed former Wisconsin long snapper Peter Bowden ahead of their second week of 2024 training camp.

Bowden had previously been released to make room for an extra quarterback. He is now back at the team’s camp to compete with Matt Orzech for the starting long-snapper job.

Bowden had previously signed with the Packers after going undrafted during the 2024 NFL draft.

He is looking to start his professional career after three years as Wisconsin’s starting long snapper (2021-23). His college career ended after total 39 starts and honors including being named a finalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award (for the nation’s best long snapper) in 2023.

Wisconsin replaced Bowden’s presence on the special teams unit with a commitment Cincinnati transfer Cayson Pfeiffer this offseason. Pfeiffer joins the Badgers as an established player at the position, and was recently named to the preseason watch list for the 2024 Patrick Mannelly Award.

Bowden is one of now 34 former Badgers currently NFL rosters at this stage of training camp. His status and competition with Orzech are worth monitoring as the Packers continue their season preparation.
