Sidewalk Poetry 2025 Submissions Now Being Accepted
The city of Santa Clarita is now accepting short poem entries for the Sidewalk Poetry Project from residents and individuals with connections or ties to Santa Clarita. The Sidewalk Poetry program began in 2019 and is a collaboration with the city’s Department of Public Works as part of a sidewalk rehabilitation program, with around 10 poems selected each year that are stamped on replacement sections of damaged sidewalks being repaired across the city.

‘Textura’ art exhibit opens Aug. 6 at The Main
Multimedia artist Naomi Young is set to unveil her latest solo art exhibit, “Textura,” at The Main in Old Town Newhall on Aug. 6. The exhibit will be open to the public through the end of September, showcasing 25 unique pieces spanning a wide range of mediums including soft chalk, colored pencils, watercolor, woven tapestries, mixed techniques, oil, acrylics and mosaics.
Local theater company puts on ‘Hamlet’
The Rest is Silence Theatre Company is holding its first ever production, William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” on Aug. 2 and 3 at 7 p.m. The newly created theater group was founded by Aiden Lewis, a rising senior at Valencia High School. Lewis said the company wanted to start off by putting an emphasis on Shakespeare’s classical works and over time move on to other classic playwrights and pieces.
