VEAZIE - On Monday, Newport native Ace Flagg announced his commitment to Greensboro Day School in North Carolina for his senior year of high school. Ace, who played with Montverde Academy the past two seasons, will now head north and play for head coach Freddy Johnson. Johnson has been with Greensboro day for 47 years- he is 7th in the nation in all-time wins as a boys high school basketball coach, has won 12 state championships, and in 2020 he was awarded the Morgan Wootten Award by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
