The lawsuit filed by former Superintendent Anne Lundquist against all five members of the Charles City School Board appears headed for trial. Charles City to Join North Central Conference After All
Charles City will be joining the North Central Conference (NCC) after all. The decision comes following a mediation process facilitated by the Iowa Department of Education, the Iowa High School Athletic Association, and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. A transition plan was then developed by the executive board of the NCC to integrate Charles City into the conference, starting with the 2025-26 school year.
W-SR’s Conference Hunt Goes Before the Dept. of Ed.
The mediation team from the Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has passed its recommendation on regarding Waverly-Shell Rock and the WaMac. Their recommendation is that W-SR not be allowed in the conference. Director of the Iowa Department of Education, McKenzie Snow, now has to review and make a decision within 45 days. It is the stated policy of the state of Iowa that every school desiring to be in a conference should be granted that opportunity. The Go-Hawks will be independent in the upcoming school year.
