Authorities identify pedestrian who died after being hit by SUV in northern Iowa
CERRO GORDO COUNTY, Iowa — A pedestrian was killed Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle in northern Iowa. Video above: Traffic deaths lower than this time last year. A GMC Envoy SUV was traveling southbound on Plymouth Road in Mason City when it struck a pedestrian, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report. The pedestrian, who has since been identified as Jennifer Buls-Vrba, 42, of Mason City, was taken to a nearby hospital. She died from her injuries.

Deere & Co. cut nearly 500 salaried workers in Iowa and Illinois, with 319 employees slashed at the iconic tractor and combine manufacturer's global headquarters and production facility, both in Illinois, according to notices the Illinois Commerce and Economic Opportunity released Friday. West Nile Has Been Found in Iowa Mosquitoes
The good news is that at the time of writing, no humans in Iowa have yet tested positive for the West Nile virus. Mosquitos on the other hand have been found containing the virus in central Iowa. According to KCRG, mosquitoes were trapped at a park in West Ames sometime in mid-July. The park where these mosquitoes were found is sprayed or fogged every Wednesday night. Some of these mosquitoes contained the West Nile virus.
