    Flyboys' Bats Come Alive Against Bristol

    The Greeneville Flyboys’ offense carried them to a 9-2 win over Bristol on Thursday at Pioneer Park, ending the night with 14 hits. The State Liners hd nine hits, but were undone by five errors, leading to the Flyboys improving to 11-8 on the season.

    The State Liners opened the game with two runs, a walked in run and a sacrifice fly. Greeneville responded with four runs in its first at bat. Nick Arias scored on a wild pitch, followed by a Max Knight RBI single, an Avery Ortiz RBI double and a Jordan Lewis RBI single to make it 4-2.

    Knight drove in another run in the second, making it 5-2 on a line drive RBI double to center field.

    The Flyboys added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth, when Arias reached on an error, scoring Paul Taylor. Another Bristol wild pitch pushed another run in and Lewis made it 9-2 on a two-run line drive to center.

    Lewis ended the night 4-for-5 with three RBI and Ortiz was 3-for-5 with one RBI. Knight was 2-for-4 with two RBI, Brady Francisco was 2-for-5 and Arias, Brodie Johnston and Taylor had one hit each.

    Zach Leduc drew the start, pitching three innings. He gave up three hits, two earned runs, walked three and struck out two. Ryan Reynolds (1-1) earned the win in two innings, giving up two hits, walking two and striking out two. Blake Julius pitched three innings, allowing two hits, walked two and struck out two. Jamie Robertson closed the ninth with two hits and one strikeout.

    Greeneville was scheduled to host Bristol on Friday night at Pioneer Park with the result of that game not available at press time. The Flyboys are slated to travel to Elizabethton at 7 p.m. Saturday.
