Greeneville’s Carson Quillen, Colton Richards have been named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Class 3A all-state baseball team, while West Greene’s Mason McCamey and Chuckey-Doak’s Christian Derry were named to the Class 2A all-state team.

Quillen and Richards helped the Greene Devils to a Class 3A State tournament and a 26-14 record.

Quillen, a junior pitcher, had an incredible season on the mound. In 70 2/3 innings, he gave up 43 hits and just 16 runs (nine earned). He walked 21 and struck out 73, earning an ERA of .892. The Virginia Tech commit was also a force with a bat in hand. At the plate, he had 52 hits, 32 RBI, 47 runs, and 19 doubles, finishing the season with a team-high .394 batting average and .490 OBP. Quillen also stole 19 bases and was walked 22 times.

Richards wasn’t too far behind his Greene Devil teammate at the plate. He finished his senior season with the second-best batting average and OBP, .375 and .474, respectively. His 48 hits were second only to Quillen, hitting 17 doubles, two triples and one home run. Richards led the team with 45 RBI and scored 36 times.

McCamey also made his senior year his best, leaving West Greene as the all-time leader in hits, with 123. He led the team in hits, RBI and Batting average, with 47, 36 and a .431, respectively. McCamey also finished with 12 doubles, two triples and three home runs, as well as scoring 37 times.

The West Greene senior was also one of the team’s top pitchers, throwing in 49 1/3 innings, allowing just 43 hits and 35 runs (16 earned). He struck out 73 and walked 21 for an ERA of .892.

Derry ended his senior year with the Black Knights as the team’s best hitter and pitcher. On the mound, he threw for 50 1/3 innings, allowing just 47 hits and 31 runs (18 earned). He made batters miserable, striking out 63 and walking just nine, finishing the season with an ERA of 2.503.

When he wasn’t throwing strikes, he was batting .507, the best among starters in Greene County. He had 38 hits, including five doubles, one triple and three home runs, as well as driving in 26 runs and scoring 21 times.
