The Greeneville Flyboys were sweating late, but were able to hold off the Johnson City Doughboys to win 8-6 and improve to 14-8 on the season on Tuesday at Pioneer Park.

After taking a 5-0 lead after the first two innings, with Brady Francisco's two-run single being the early highlight, the Doughboys finally got on the board in the top of the fifth on a Chase Bloomer RBI single to make it 5-1.

The Flyboys were eager to respond with three more runs in their next at bat. Mycah Jordan hit an RBI single on a line drive to center field, followed by a sacrifice fly from Tyler Inge and a BJ Peart RBI single on a hard ground ball to center field, giving the Flyboys an 8-1 advantage.

Each offense stalled over the next three innings until the top of the ninth, when Johnson City had its back against the wall.

Cody Carson took the mound in relief for the Flyboys, swiftly striking out his first two batters, but the final out evaded him. Four hits and five runs later, the Doughboys had narrowed the gap to 8-6. Their luck ended there however, as the Flyboys were able to get the final out and seal the win with a big sigh of relief.

Jacob Kennedy (2-1) drew the start and win on the mound. In six innings, he gave up five hits, one earned run, walked one and struck out six. Ryan Reynolds relieved him for innings seven and eight, giving up one hit and striking out one.

Greeneville totaled 14 hits on the night, with Francisco and Jordan hitting 3-for-4, with Francisco having two RBI and Jordan having one. Peart was 2-for-5 with two RBI, Paul Taylor was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Ariel Antigua was 2-for-5. Inge had one hit and one RBI and Dylan Jackson had one hit.
