GREENFIELD, Ind.–A former teacher at Mt. Vernon School Corporation and New Palestine School Corporation is accused of providing drugs and alcohol to students.

Brock Wedgeworth, a 45-year-old resident of Fortville, was arrested Thursday morning by the Greenfield Police Department and Fortville Police Department detectives.

Greenfield Deputy Police Chief Charles McMichael says they had been investigating Wedgeworth since January of this year.

“It’s things like this that can very quickly and very easily turn into more dangerous activities. These types of relationships between students and teachers should never happen. Providing alcohol and drugs to juveniles shouldn’t happen,” said McMichael.

McMichael said the incidents where the drugs and alcohol were provided did not happen on school property.

“But as to more specific information, I can’t divulge that at this point. That will all come out when he has his first day in court,” said McMichael.

McMichael says if you have any additional information on Wedgeworth, don’t hesitate to come forward.

“With these types of cases, we never know how much of an impact they have until we start pushing some information out and letting people know what’s happened,” said McMichael.

Wedgeworth has been charged with four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor (child less than 16 years old), all level 6 felonies.

If you can help, you’re encouraged to call the Greenfield Police Department at 317-477-4410.
