TV personality and entrepreneur Zach Erdem has opened Bourdon Artisan Bakery at the boutique ZEY Hotel in Greenport.

The menu features hand-crafted pastries, cakes, cookies and other treats by Gursel Aydin, a Turkish pastry chef.

The bakery is the first of what Erdem hopes will be many across the nation.

Erdem is the TV reality star behind Serving the Hamptons, which is streaming on Max. Erdem, who grew up in the rural mountains of Turkey, also owns ZErdem Restaurant in Greenport, and 75 Main as well as Blu Mar, both in Southampton.

Erdem first arrived in the United States in 2002, he said on the Who’s Here in the Hamptons podcast earlier this year. He started out as a dishwasher at 75 Main, worked his way up in the restaurant industry at other eateries, and used his savings in 2010 to take over the restaurant, which had closed. As he built a following, in 2021, he added reality television to the mix.

Erdem said he met Aydin, the chef at his bakery, at a Turkish hotel several years ago.

“I saw what he was doing there and was so impressed,” Erdem told LIBN.

“I told him about my vision for a bakery that had the potential to expand across the country and he loved it," Erdem added. "Fast forward to today, we've opened the first Bourdon Artisan Bakery of the next 10 to 20 other locations we plan to open nationwide in the next five years.”

Erdem went on to say that the “bakery has a handful of tables inside for seated service. Bourdon is directly connected to the hotel, so guests are welcome to bring their pastries into the lobby, the common spaces and their rooms.”

The bakery first opened on May 24, kicking off the unofficial beginning of summer on the East End.

Right now, Erdem said, Aydin’s main focus is Greenport, “as it's brand-new and, thankfully, very busy. Once this location becomes established and settles into a normal routine, he will make pastries and desserts for my other places.”
