Town passes ordinance cracking down on illicit discharges
EASTON — An ordinance that will crack down on the dumping and spillage of certain discharges in Easton is set to take effect in early August. The Easton Town Council unanimously passed an illicit discharge ordinance on Monday following discussions of the item at three public meetings. Sewage Spills into Bay Street Ponds in Easton
EASTON, MD. - People are being asked to take caution near several waterways in Easton after a sewage spill. The Easton Utilities Commission says about 6,000 gallons of untreated wastewater overflowed into the ponds on Bay Street. They say the spill was contained within the ponds and a majority of the ponds' contents were pumped out.
A Landmark Reimagined: The Revival of Easton’s Waterfowl Building
Standing in front of the Waterfowl Building this past weekend started me thinking about how interesting it is to watch history evolve, listen for echoes of the past, and wonder about future possibilities. After all, this is an Easton landmark—the big castle-looking thing with the geese sculpture. Many still refer to it as ‘The Armory’ due to its prior life as the local home of the Maryland National Guard. However, in 1997, the building was transferred to the Waterfowl Festival and became the Waterfowl Building. Built in 1927, this sturdy structure is almost 100 years old, yet very little has changed. And that’s the problem—very little has changed. While some renovations have been done over the years, it is only now that the efforts have genuinely taken off. Thanks to the Waterfowl Festival’s leadership and local community support, its longevity just might have been extended.
Registration now open for annual 10K Bay Bridge Run set for Nov. 10
Corrigan Sports Enterprises, Inc. (CSE) will once again facilitate the event across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge open to walkers and runners alike. Last year was Corrigan Sports third year running the event with over 17,000 reported participants, according to County Administrator Todd Mohn. Queen Anne’s County Housing Authority Relocates Administrative Offices
The Queen Anne’s County Housing Authority (QAC) is pleased to announce the relocation of its administrative offices. Effective July 22nd, the administrative offices will move from 205 E Water St STE 100, Centreville, MD 21617, to the Kramer Center, located at 104 Powell Street, Centreville, MD 21617, where the Department of Community Services is housed. Despite the change in location, the phone number (410-758-8634), fax number (410-758-8635), and mailing address (PO Box 280, Centreville, MD 21617) will remain unchanged.
