GRAHAM, N.C. (WGHP) — A Greensboro man was sentenced to two decades of imprisonment after being found guilty in an armed home invasion, according to the Alamance County District’s Attorney’s Office.

On Sept. 11, 2023, Donell Vincelle “Vinny” Holly, 33, of Greensboro, was arrested by the Graham Police Department in connection to an armed home invasion that happened on the morning of Aug. 7, 2023, on North Marshall Street in Graham.

Man charged in crash that killed 70-year-old Winston-Salem woman had revoked license

A child was involved during the armed invasion. Holly was accused and charged with assaulting the child.

On Thursday, Holly was found guilty by a jury of the following charges:

    • Possession of a firearm by a felon
    • Three counts of second-degree kidnapping
    • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill
    • Felony breaking-and-entering
    • Felony larceny
    • Assault on a child under 12
    • Two counts of assault by pointing a gun

The judge sentenced Holly to a total of 230 to 335 months in prison. He will be required to register as a sex offender due to his conviction of kidnapping a minor.

A 4-year-old child was present during the home invasion, according to the DA’s office.

“Today’s result could only be accomplished through great investigative work by members of the Graham Police Department, a well-prepared and effective prosecution team, and the careful deliberative work of the jury,” District Attorney Sean Boone said. “Such efforts should make all of Alamance County more confident in our court system; moreover, this result should serve as a striking reminder to anyone who would brutally violate the sanctity of a family’s home that this county will respond in a most severe way.”
