    1 dead, 1 in hospital after shooting on East Market Street in Greensboro, police

    GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A man is dead after a shooting in Greensboro on Monday, and another man is in the hospital, according to a Greensboro Police Department news release.

    At around 1:07 a.m., Greensboro officers responded to a reported shooting in the area of Laurel Street and East Market Street.

    Man charged with murder after fatal shooting in Randolph County, deputies say

    Arriving officers found a vehicle on the road on East Market Street with two victims inside.

    They were taken to a hospital. Rachaud Polite, 31, died, and a 39-year-old man was left with non-life-threatening injuries.

    As a result of the shooting investigation, East Market Street was closed in both directions between Benbow Street and Dudley Street for several hours.

    The road has since reopened.

    There is no suspect information available at this time, and detectives have not established a motive.
