The Dixie Girls District 6 tournament continued on June 17 with a showdown between the 12U and 10U All Stars from Greenville and Geneva for the title of District Champion. Both Greenville teams emerged victorious, securing their spots in the upcoming State Championship.

The 10U Angels dominated their game, defeating Geneva with a decisive 19-8 victory. The 12U Ponytails followed suit, claiming an 11-6 win over their rivals.

Despite facing significant challenges, the Greenville teams showcased resilience and determination.

“Tonight, these girls came in knowing they were going to face adversity,” said Ron Howell, head coach of the Dixie All-Stars 12U team. “Our top two pitchers were out, our starting third baseman was out. We knew it was going to be hard, but they were ready for the challenge. More than anything, I’m highly impressed with the way they responded to the adversity they knew they were going to face.”

Geneva’s 12U Coach, Amber Mock, expressed pride in her team’s efforts despite the loss.

“I’m just super proud of my girls and how hard they worked and how much effort they put in,” Mock said. “They worked their butts off this summer.”

Both Greenville all-star teams are now set to compete in the State Championship in Troy, beginning on July 5.

With their district victories behind them, the teams are gearing up for the next level of competition, hoping to continue their winning streak.
