    JOY Toy Jubilee

    JOY Community Center, 700 Albemarle Ave., will host a toy giveaway from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday in partnership with The Marine Corps League Sgt. W.E. Plueddemann Detachment 1186. Children can enter the MCL Toy Land and choose a toy, learn about animals from Donna’s Animal Adventures, meet men and women who served in the Marines and some ECU football players. Pelican Snoballs will offer each child a free small snoball, and Sheetz will pass out bagged lunches of hot dogs, chips and cookies during the free event.

    Kids movie night

    NewGround Restoration will host Kingdom kids movie night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday at 537 Queen St., Grifton. All are welcome.

    Mini photo session

    AMG Photography is holding a Summer Dogs & Balls Mini Photo Session from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina, 3520 Tupper Drive. All proceeds will support sheltering homeless pets until they they are adopted. Reservations required at amgtakesphotos.pixieset.com/booking/.

    Coffee & Crafting Connections

    Backstage Coffee is hosting Coffee & Crafting Connections with Queer Creatives from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 27 at 304 S. Greene St. The event will feature crafts, coffee and connections with Greenville-Pitt County Summer of Pride, presented with support from Visit Greenville, NC and NAMI Pitt County. This is a free, all-day floating event where participants can connect with queer creatives and bring home some cool art.

    Genealogy Fair

    Historic Hope Foundation’s 13th annual Family History and Genealogy Fair will be held on July 27 in the Roanoke-Chowan Heritage Center, 132 Hope House Road, just off N.C. 308 west of Windsor. The title of this year’s program is “Connecting Your Ancestral Roots in Bertie County to the Life and Time of Hannah (Bond) Crafts.” Speakers are Turner Bond Sutton, Benjamin Speller and Stephen Bond. Registration and a continental breakfast begin at 9:30 a.m. and the program starts at 10. Registration is $20, which includes lunch.     Market on St. Andrews

    The American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 39, is sponsoring a Market on St. Andrews from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 10 at the post, 403 St. Andrews Drive. The auxiliary supports veterans at home and abroad by continuing outreach for missions at the VA Clinic and NC Pack 4 Patriots. The market will have a variety of unique specialty items, many of which are handmade.

    School supply drive

    A school supply drive for pre-K through eighth-grade students, hosted by Certquick, will take place from 1-4 p.m. on Aug. 17 at 249-F W. Third St., Ayden. Needed items include small and medium backpacks, paper, pencils, crayons, color pencils, composition books and folders. Contact Certquik@gmail.com or 304-2065.

    VFW Bingo

    Charles Gray Morgan VFW Post 7032 holds its bingo night every Saturday at 1108 Mumford Road. Doors open at 6 p.m. and games start at 7:30 p.m.
